Anja Selvanathan, born in Munich, Germany, studied interior architecture in Rosenheim (Dipl-Ing. FH). After completing her degree she left Germany to explore career opportunities elsewhere.
After a year in London she moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where she started running her own business. She specialised in renovating and extending residential houses.
In 2012 the opportunity arose to move to New York, where she started photography at ICP (International Centre of Photography). Later she became a Technical assistant, while assisting with Studio Photographer Carol Dragon. During her free time she volunteered at the New Whitney Museum of American Art at their new “Meatpacking” location.
